VERBUND is Austria's largest electricity supply company. In a big company like VERBUND, it is not always clear where data is located and how the data can be accessed. That is why it often took users several days to get hold of the desired data. The existing information system has since then been expanded to include a geodata shop. With this self-service solution, users independently obtain the required data in the desired format and coordinate system. While internal resources and a corresponding lead time were previously required, the geodata shop delivers the desired data immediately.
Integrated in GIS
The geodata shop is based on the axmann geodata broker product and is directly integrated into the existing information system. Using their familiar functions, users navigate to the desired area and get an overview of the available geodata on the map, define the area of interest in the form of a polygon and provide details such as type of data, coordinate system, file format and other parameters. For the coordinate system, the user can choose between all systems commonly used in Austria and Germany.
Automated and scalable
axmann geodata broker processes the request automatically on the server and accesses the various data sources in (GIS) databases or the file system directly. After conversion to the desired file format and coordinate system, users will be informed of completion by email. Users download the data and start working with it immediately using their desired software.
